Dear Lee,
My name is heather and i want you to under stand the causes of the civil war. One cause is Slavery in the United States first began in Virginia in 1619. By the end of the American Revolution, most northern states had abandoned the institution while it continued to grow and flourish in the plantation economy of the South. Now this is the biggest reason why the civil war was caused. Another one is because
the state rights. The South recognized that the control of the government was slipping away it turned to a states rights argument to protect slavery. The Southerners claimed that the federal government was prohibited by the Tenth Amendment from impinging upon the right of slaveholders take their property into a new territory. They also stated that the federal government was not permitted to interfere with slavery in those states where it already existed. They felt that this type of strict constructionist interpretation of the Constitution coupled with nullification or perhaps secession would protect their way of life.Well i hope you learned something from this. Thanks for letting me teach you about the civil war.

ReplyDeleteBattle: a hostile encounter or engagement between opposing military forces
Dear Lee,
There are two main causes for the civil war in The United States of America. One is slavery. Many people in the north opposed of slavery, while in the south many people were all for it. This created conflicts between the north and south. Another reason is Economic and social differences between the North and the South. The south was mostly for farms while the north was more industrial. About.com gives a good amount of information if you would like to know more.

ReplyDeleteBattle-a hostile meeting of opposing military forces in the course of a war.
Dear Lee
There were many reasons for a Civil War to happen in America, and political issues and disagreements began soon after the American Revolution ended in 1782. Between the years 1800 and 1860, arguments between the North and South grew more intense. One of the main quarrels was about taxes paid on goods brought into this country from foreign countries. This tax was called a tariff. Southerners felt these tariffs were unfair and aimed toward them because they imported a wider variety of goods than most Northern people. Taxes were also placed on many Southern goods that were shipped to foreign countries, an expense that was not always applied to Northern goods of equal value. An awkward economic structure allowed states and private transportation companies to do this, which also affected Southern banks that found themselves paying higher interest rates on loans made with banks in the North. The situation grew worse after several "panics", including one in 1857 that affected more Northern banks than Southern. Southern financiers found themselves burdened with high payments just to save Northern banks that had suffered financial losses through poor investment.

ReplyDeleteDear lee,
There was a lot of unfair taxation in the civil war.Their crops were sold to cotton mills in England, and the ships returned with cheap manufactured goods produced in Europe. These taxes angered Southerners. It was in the late 1800'S.Another cause is slavery.Southerners believed that abolitionists were attacking their way of life and that the Federal government was not doing enough to protect their "property" from running away. THESE ARE SOME OF THE REASONS FOR THE US CIVIL WAR. I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND. GOOD LUCK WITH WHATEVER YOU DO IN LIFE.

Dear lee,
ReplyDeleteThere are two main reasons that caused the civil war. The biggest main reason was the election of 1860. That is when Abraham Lincoln became president, and evidently people had problems with it. A couple other reasons are southern states leave form united states, and also CSA which is Confederate states of America. The war was supposed to bring the united states together. You can go to google.com to find out more information on all of this.

Dear Lee,
ReplyDeleteThe U.S. War took place in 1860, when the presidential election took place. The war was actually caused by this election. The election was between Abraham Lincoln, John C. Breckinridge, John Bell, and Stephen A. Douglas. Lincoln won the election with 39% of the votes without any votes from the southern states. This was because they wanted to keep slavery. But Lincoln still won. The true cause of the Civil War was because the southern states were separated from northern and western states., and it caused conflict between them such as slavery and democracy.

ReplyDeletein the election of 1860 Abraham licoln becomes president with only 39 percent of popular vote.
Dear Lee,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Heather and I want to help you understand the causes of why the civil war happened. Well in the year of 1860 the election was going on to pick who the president was going to be. With 39% of popular votes Abraham Lincoln became president. At the end of the American Revolution the northern states had left the United States because of slavery. Which first began in Virginia in 1619. This is the biggest reason why the civil was went on. The south then recongnized that the control of the government was begging to slip away. Then it turned to a state rights argument because they were trying to protect slavery. The southerns stated that the federal wasn’t allowed to interfere with the slavery in states where it existed. The civil war was suppose to keep the united states together but it looks like that didn’t happen. I hope you learned something from this, and thanks for letting me teach you about the civil war.
Yours sincerely,
Heather L ♥
