The Case was called Whitney v. California. This case was in court in 1927. Whitney v. California was held in California, US. This case was important because innocent WOMEN were being burnt for being accused of being “WITCHES!” Freedom of speech is important and we all need to protect ourselves by speaking up.
ReplyDeleteThis court case is called Brandenburg v. Ohio. This case was in court in 1969. Specifically this case is from Ohio. It is important because it made the law clearer on what Freedom of Speech.
I think you should be able to express yourself freely in school. But do it appreiately. I mean they say you cant preech to them about God. But I think it sounds good to express how your feelings in school. From me, I would love to do that. Maybe they can have a class like that or something.

Whitney v. California, 274 U. S. 357
ReplyDeleteIt took place in California in 1927. The Whitney case is most noted for the greatest defense of freedom of speech ever written by a member of the high court.
Near v. Minnesota, 283 U.S. 697, 51 S.Ct. 625, 75 L.Ed. 1357
It took place in Minnesota in 1931. It was important because of the previous restraint.

I think the kids could make their decision on wither the books are appropriate or not.
